December 14. We ended the year on a high note, with most of our club members playing in the Queensland Team Championship
Premier Team --First-our members were (in alphabetical order):-
Michael Cashman, Brodie McClymont,Mark Stokes, Brian Thomas,Tony Truscott and Tony Weller.
Adults Swiss Team --(this event was loaded with "Premier team" players from Club Bullwinkle who were not allowed to play in Premier Division??), Redcliffe's team placed second:-
Michelle Cotton,Jacob Farmilo,Matthew Gilpin,Tony McRoberts, Vince McClarity, Rohan Pyne.
Junior Team -- First:-
Callum Gray,Trent Dalgleish,P-J Bargo and David McClarity.
Congratulations to our Teams, if we can get them all to enter January's "Summer Swiss" we should see some good chess!
December 1. Last night for 2010. AGM was held and Mark Stokes was re-elected President , as health reasons have limited Michael Szabo's attendance Tony Weller was voted in as Treasurer and Michelle Cotton as Secretary with Tony McRoberts Club Captain and Tom Maguire as Junior rep.
Following the AGM , "Pairs" fun chess took place with Brodie McClymont and Tom Maguire the winning pair.
Brodie McClymont became our first 2000+ rate player in the December rating list.
First meeting night in 2011 is January 19 when we start the Summer SWiss.
November.10 players for the final round of the 2010 Club Championship, no upsets on the night. Champion was Brodie McClymont with surprise best U1500 Michelle Cotton(rating 722) and best junior Tom Maguire.

November 3. health took it's toll tonjght with only 9 players. No upsets and Brodie(6/6) leads by 2 points from Michael Cashman and becomes Club Champion 2010 with 1 round left to play

October 27. Ten players tonight, 2 upsets Michelle Cotton (722) vs Mark Stokes(1550) and Tom Maguire(unr) vs Tony McRoberts(1031), Brodie McClymont leads 5/5 heading for his second club championship in a row(he was also =1st; in 2008)

October 13. Tonight saw the welcome return of Brian Thomas, a total of 12 players fought out the rd.3 games of the 2010 Club Championship
Still working on getting some Wendy Terry Memorial games in chess theater
Later, the 35 games that were shown "live" on the net are now in Chess Theatre
Note that 4 of the round 2 games have been corrupted, somehow the moves played on the monroi website are different those copied from the sites PGN page. I went back to the site and managed to sort the error in the game Solomon vs Kitikov. On my next visit to the site I could not access round 2
will upload the corrected game and try the site again

October 12. Despite heavy rainfall last Friday evening postponing the setting up of the venue, the 2010 Weny Terry Memorial Open tournament on 9 & 10 October had a record 56 entries and for the first time live games on the internet curtesy of equipment supplied and operated by Amir Karibasic.
The tournament was won by Stephen Solomon (5.5/6) with =2nd Brodie McClymont , Yi Liu and George Lester(5/5), Stephen clinched victory with a win over Brodie in the final round. Brodie (a club member had lead after rounds 4 & 5 )
I have tried to retrieve the broadcast games to publish here but no success so far
October 6. Rd.2 of the 2010 Redcliffe Club Championship, 5 absentees(with 2 possibly withdrawing owing to work committments). In the 6 games played we had 3 upsets with Michelle Cotton(722)defeating Tony McRoberts(1031), Aman Naidu(1081) defeating Tony Weller(1754) and Tom Maguire(unrated) defeated Clolin Dougherty(734)and all 6 games were won with the Black pieces

September 29. The 2010 Club Championship started with 17 players (5 byes for rd.1) and 6 games are available for review . One upset in rd.1 Peter Wilson(unrated) beat Gerard Akers(1515).

September 22. 5 members ( Brodie McClymont, Mark Stokes, Tony Weller, Mihelle Cotton{playing as team Stokes}and Aman Naidu) ventured to the Gold Coast to play in the Nell Graffe Memorial and results were good. Brodie was equal 5/6 with 3 others but took first place on tie break countback, Tony took a rating group prize and team Stokes took first in the "team event"(combined points total).
Brodie(rating 1924) defeated J.Pribosky(2381) and drew with M.Ly(2298)ans G.Nakauchi(2036) on the way to his unbeaten 5/6.

September 15. 2010 Redcliffe Allegro starts, Brodie McClymont decided to sit this one out and 11 players registered for the Allegro, included were returning member Tony Truscott,visitor Halim Nataprawira and new junior Tom Maguire. One player sat out the 3 rounds, upsets by Aman Naidu(draw with Tony Weller) Halim Natapirawa(draw with Tony Truscott and Tom maguire (win over Greg Devine).

September 9. Another tournament win to Brodie McClymont, no picket fence this time(5.5/6).With this form and 3 recent open tournament draws against Internationl Master Stephen Solomon, Brodie will be favourite for the 2010 Club Champioship and have a chance at prize money the upcoming Wendy Terry Memorial(9-10 October)

July 21. Mike Dyer Memorial continues, the addition of P-J Bargo brings entrant numbers up to 12. 2 byes tonight so only 5 games were played. Rd 3 upset by Norm Braybrooke(1164) who won against Tony Weller(1732) and Rd. 4 upset by Colin Dougherty(733) against P-J. Bargo(933) Norm missed a second upset chance when he could have trapped Brodie McClymont's Queen.

June 16. Again numbers limited with some players opting to stay home for the "Origin" broadcast! Eight players played a round robin for the 2010 Club Lightning Championship. Brodie McClymont won with Mark Stokes 2nd. I've lost the file so publishing full details is not posssible.
June9. Only 8 players for the final round of the Viv Greenelsh Memorial, Brodie McClymont won his second Viv Greenelsh memorial with 5.5/6 with Tony Truscott(5/6) 2nd. one upset in this round when Aman Naidu beat Norm Braybrooke.

May 5. We welcomed Irena Besedine and Tano Caputa and the return of Michelle Cotton and Aman Naidu. The Viv Greenelsh Memorial kicked off with 16 players. Results went with seedings except for the upset draw by Peter Wilson against Tren Dalgleish and Bryce Wilson missed a draw against Norm Braybrooke.
8 games are avilable for viewing, I have also entered a game from the 45th. Peninsula where Callum Gray (1242) playing Black against Louis Al Zaher(1661) offered a Bishop sacrifice which if taken gave Black mate in 2.

May 4. The 45th. Peninsula Open last weekend resulted in a picket fence win to S.Solomon 7/7 with Gene Nakauchi second on 5.5/7 3rd. place and rating group A went to Tyson Walker, Yi Liu, Tony Weller, Ralph Jackson, Gerard Akers all on 5/7.
I had hoped to publish some games but the score sheets were confusing.

April 28. The Fischer Rapid finished with Mark Stokes the winner with 5.5/6 from Tony Truscott 4/6 and Trent Dalgleish 3.5/6.

April 21. Brian Thomas paid a fleeting return to the club and joined in the Fischer Rapid winning both his games. Round 4 saw upsets by Mark Stokes and Peter Wilson over Over Tony Trusctt and Tony McRoberts respectively.

April 14.We welcomed Matthew and Megan and they made 1st. Rd.numbers for the Fischer Rapid, with a number absent due sickness, work etc. round 1 & 2 pairings were skewed.

February 24. A visit from Bundaberg player Philip Mulholland meant 12 players in the final round(5 missing work and health reasons) of the Summer Swiss. Tony Weller defeated Bodie McClymont denying Brodie a picket fence but Brodie (5/6) won the trophy from Michael Cashman (4.5/6). Tony McRobrerts & Anan Naidu(3/6) = best U1500 with Trent Dalgleish(2.5/6) best junior.
Next week sees the start of a 6 round tournament the Tal Memorial, 60 minutes followed by 30 secs

January 2-11.Changed my browser and can now download, 9 games available for T.Weller and 10 for Mark Stokes,after 10 games Mark leads the under 1600 by 1.5 points
Note the official site game record shows a win for Black(Axel Stahnke) against Mark but the final position is clearly in Marks,s favour and I have changed the game result, the round 10 pairings show Mark on 8.5 which confirms his rd.9 win
